(More customer reviews)I've been using Sensodyne's Pronamel Toothpastes for years. I'm young(ish) but don't have great genes when it comes to teeth, and had suffered off and on from tooth sensitivity as long as I can remember. In fact, you know how people joke that you never see little kids or "invincible in their own minds" teens complaining about sore backs or wincing at an ice cream cone? Well, they didn't know me.
The great thing about Pronamel is that it works. It WORKS! I used it exclusively for a few months and found that it really helped. It didn't work overnight, but I didn't expect it to do so. At this point, I use it a couple of times a week only, and switch around with a couple of other brands whose flavors I like better. It actually really surprised me how little other reviewers commented on the taste of Sensodyne, so I'll jump in: Sensodyne Pronamel tastes horrible. It's not nearly as bad as the older, non-Pronamel Sensodyne, so if you've only tried that, you may be pleasantly suprised, but if you're used to "normal" (Crest, Colgate, even Tom's) toothpaste, don't expect to switch to Pronamel and not notice a difference.
It's just sort of medicinal, I guess, and bitter. As I said, I've been using it for years, and I've gotten more used to the taste, but it's not one I particularly enjoy. If you've got painfully sensitive teeth, the two minutes of bad taste is definitely worth the rest of the day with no pain. When I first started out with Pronamel, I'd combine it with my regular toothpaste to cut down on the bitterness, which is what I'd suggest you try if you're having a hard time with the flavor. And, though your mileage may vary, I haven't found any of the Pronamel flavors to be significantly better or worse than the others.
Nonetheless, I really highly recommend this product for people with sensitive teeth. It works well enough you can even skip a couple of brushings (with the paste, not skip them altogether) and have the decreased sensitivity remain. Honestly, it works so well I can rant about its taste and still give it a 5 Star Review; if you're looking for a sensitive toothpaste, look no further.

(More customer reviews)I've used this tooth paste for years, probably about 7 years. Since I started using it, I went from having a cavity every year, to having them very infrequently. My teeth are cleaner then ever and when I use it regularly without returning to "normal" tooth paste, I dont get "morning breath", its amazing.
Its brown, so that takes some getting used to, and the taste gets some getting used to if your used to mint tooth paste, its not bad at all, its just not mint. Its a great tooth paste if your taking homeopathic medication too, because of course, its mint free.
I love this stuff. Its fantastic, and my teeth and gums are much healthier after switching off the Aquafresh, Colgate, Crest, and the like. great product! cant recommend it enough.

Among all the other flavors of ToM toothpastes out there--ranging from strawberry to cinnamint to wintermint--this is one of my favorites. I'd definitely recommend it if you want a natural plaque-fighting toothpaste without all the other stuff included: animal by/products, saccharin, or preservatives and dyes.
Ingredients: Calcium carbonate (chalk), glycerin, water, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), carrageenan (seaweed), peppermint oil, sodium lauryl sulfate (from coconut oil), myrrh and propolis.

It's the only toothpaste that makes my mouth actually feel clean when I'm done brushing. Too many tame, tasteless, wimpy toothpastes make almost no difference in your mouth. Or they taste too good, like bubblegum or supermint - no way those ones clean my teeth! They taste like candy!
This one is absolutely perfect. And it does a better job.
Forget Crest or Colgate - or even those exclusive import brands my wife likes. This is The One. :)

Tom's is a small company, employing fewer than two hundred people. It was founded in 1970 and then purchased by Colgate in 2006. Fortunately, Colgate has left Tom's alone to manage their business according to their original principles.
Tom's makes natural products. The toothpaste contains no sugar, sweeteners, or artificial flavoring. By contrast, I looked at a tube of Colgate toothpaste that I have on the shelf. It contains "flavor," whatever that is, "saccharine," and "propylene glycol." The last ingredient is a less-toxic form of anti-freeze. One advantage of Tom's toothpaste is that we do not have to worry about ingesting poisons when we use it.
I have been using Tom's for years. The toothpaste comes in many flavors. On Amazon, you can find Peppermint, Spearmint, Fennel, Orange-Mango, Cinnamint, Wintermint, Apricot, Soothing Mint, True Mint, and Gingermint, among others. I prefer the Peppermint flavor, which is refreshing, but not overwhelming. The toothpaste is available in sizes from 1 ounce to 6 ounces.
I do not exactly live in a wilderness area, but my local stores no longer carry Tom's. Fortunately, it can be found on Amazon and other web sites. The prices do vary from vendor to vendor, so check for the best price.

I was able to bring it on the airplane and through security without including in my quart size liquid bag. Using both the toothpaste that directly fits as well as the adapter for other types, I was not able to fill the chamber completely. With it as full as I could get it, it lasted about 10 brushings using slightly less toothpaste than I typically use. The dial to get the paste to the brush was tough to turn with wet hands.

It fights cavities better than brushing without any toothpaste; and it contains fluoride. Fluoride is a big plus for keeping your teeth strong. Pepsodent advertises this toothpaste as "specially formulated to help get your teeth their whitest" and it claims that Pepsodent is "not harsh on your tooth enamel." Great! Moreover, Pepsodent comes in a tube that is easy to handle--just squeeze out as much as you need to fit on your toothbrush.
Dock it a star--or maybe even a star and one-half--because this toothpaste is just not quite as sophisticated as other toothpastes are. For example, it does not contain baking soda. It does not have enhanced tartar control either. You may want to consider this before buying this brand of toothpaste.
Overall, it's not bad toothpaste; it's just that Pepsodent is not the most sophisticated toothpaste available. However, I personally have used Pepsodent all my life and I never had any problems with it.
I recommend Pepsodent toothpaste for people who are satisfied with just good ol' fashioned regular toothpaste.

Our stopper on the bottom of our sink is missing so it's now the toothpaste lid graveyard. Hopefully my husband will clean out the graveyard one of these days. So far, so good! My kids love it, it encourages them to brush their teeth and sorta makes it fun. Mine don't leak and I expected it to get a little goopy with toothpaste from kids (and grown-ups) hitting the sides of it when you pull out your toothbrush with toothpaste on it. Wiping it down every few days won't be a problem for me. Now they are available at Bed Bath & Beyond so NO MORE SHIPPING!!! And they still come with the pathetic "sonic" toothbrush that you need earplugs to operate.

(More customer reviews)I saw results with this toothpaste after the first use. It's excellent for whitening, no doubt. But, I have several cavities and have let my teeth go over the years (I know, I know, no lectures, please....) and in two weeks I've noticed a drastic difference in sensitivity. Even my own breath blowing on my teeth is sending shivers down my spine. At times it's downright painful. I must say that I used this toothpaste in conjunction with an electric brush, so obviously in hindsight this wasn't the best idea. I recommend the toothpaste highly for whitening, but if you have bad or sensitive spots, please use cautiously, and don't use with an electric.

(More customer reviews)well, for one, I had barely any enamel on my teeth. Eating was horribly painful if it was sweet or cold food. I had this problem for so long I have developed habits of eating that are less painful. its horrific, really. Brushing took me about 8 tries on a bad day, 2-4 on a good one. I would have to rinse alot because the pain of the tooth paste was too much.
I have been using this for about a month now. Its very painful to brush with, and it is made in China which makes me wary of it, China doesn't have great standards and many things from it have caused problems for the US. I was wary, but desperate. I saw reviews that where good, and some that said it did nothing, but none reported death or illness so I thought I would give it a go haha.
The tooth brush it comes with is nice. My teeth do feel smoother, and I THINK that they are getting less sensitive, I notice I'm having to rinse less when I brush, and it hurts less when I brush, also I am able to eat sweet foods better without as much pain... I think it is actually getting better, and I'm SO relieved! sensodyne, which just numbs the nerves, didn't seem like a brilliant solution... if the tubules are still exposed, I thought, couldn't food and things that would further damage the problem or cause cavities get in there? it seemed dumb. So now I've been using this stuff.
here is a little break down list style:
Pros:
I think its working. I am deffinitally expirincing less pain
Its cheaper then the prescription stuff I hear, and easier to procure
Flouride free, big plus for those of us who do not want flouride, for various reasons I dont need to go into here.
tastes fine
makes my teeth feel smooth
increases brightness/whiteness a bit
Can be used on a daily basis
Contains Novamin which is an actual valid active ingredient for restoring enamel
Cons:
Made in China, dubious quality control
leaves funny powdery/dry weird residue on things, have to wash off tube and brush and hands alot.
painful to brush with, more so then regular tooth paste, for me at least, but I have/had REALLY sensitive teeth.
not very potent, takes a while to work
not ADA approved
does not tell you just how MUCH novamin is in the tooth paste
no specific instructions (makes me think not alot of novamin is in there at all)
so there you have it. is it worth the money? well how bad is the pain? have you been to a dentist to see if its a cavity? do you KNOW the problem is enamel related? then try it why not, supposedly a bottle of SoothRX which is the US ADA approved novamin tooth paste that restores (and is ALOT more potent) costs $40, but supposedly you also use that alot less. So its a pro-con kind of thing. myself, I have no dental insurance now and I'm in horrible pain, so it was worth the money to try it. I'm glad I did, it turned out well for me. Though in the future, I probably will try to get the RX stuff.
