(More customer reviews)When I first saw this product, I thought it sounded really great. The only thing that I thought might have been better would have been if the music would turn off when too much pressure was applied.
I bought one for my daughter to try and discovered the real problem. Since the music stops whenever there is not enough pressure on the brush, the user is more hesitant to move the brush around to get to all of the teeth. When my daughter uses this brush, she misses large areas and retains much plaque.
Main cons:
-Pressure must be applied, too much pressure does not turn music off.
Results: Many areas don't get clean.
Too much pressure results in gum inflamation, tooth erosion, and ultimately can lead to bone loss and periodontal problems.
-Brush action is not the most effective for removing plaque.
Summary:
A manual brush with proper technique can out perform this brush for plaque removal.
A power brush with rotary motion and a small brush head is the most effective method of plaque removal.
Test brushing technique periodically by using some form of disclosing (plaque staining) such as GUM RedCote tablets or Agent Cool Blue mouth rinse.
In place of toothbrushes that play tunes, have your child listen to his/her favorite song while brushing and brush until the song ends.
Don't forget to floss!!!
