Periodically electric pulsating models come into fashion and go away again when they break or when a dentist notes that a manual toothbrush does just as well. Lately, many "improvements" to the basic manual toothbrush have been offered: thicker padded handles, angled heads and/or angled bristles. I usually chose a color I like in the soft firmness I need and put up with the toothbrush until a few month's use wears it out.
I purchased the GUM Technique Plus Value pack in my local drugstore for no other reason than that I got 2 toothbrushes for the price of one. They didn't look that much different from the toothbrush supplied by my dentist which also had a padded handle and artistically arranged bristles.
However, the GUM Technique is brilliantly and elegantly designed. The thick angled handle provides a thumb rest and works equally well for a right or left handed person. Soft squashy ridges under the thumb make for a secure, responsive grip. And the curved face of the bristles fits against all surfaces of the teeth, dislodging tiny particles from between teeth, from the chewing surfaces and fitting into the very back corners of the mouth. Very thoughtful effort has been lavished on creating this everyday object; the result is a brilliant little miracle of human ingenuity. One must brush one's teeth--it is such a pleasure to have the right instrument for the purpose that I thought I would post this review in thanks.
